Looks to me that you have been a real credit to the wrestling community. Over 200 opponents on Meetfighters and I am sure many more than that. As well as a medalist at the gay games. You have lived your passion. Enjoy your retirement!

Mike joined LAW wrestling club when we were still in City University, London around the 1990s, and later became one of my most dedicated Assistant Coaches, patiently assisting and introducing total beginners into our sport and community, whilst being a stalwart pillar to me in running and managing the club throughout. LAW was set up in the early days of 1986 on our mission statement; "To promote the close combat sport of wrestling to everyone irrespectively" and Mike assisted greatly in introducing our sport into all communities.
After 32 years of running LAW, I retired from our beloved sport and my baby LAW earlier this year, therefore Mike actually lasted longer then me, Well Done, mate! I miss your organic Choi Sum and Beetroot :-)

I really appreciate your comments. I think you will understand better than most that I choose to stop wrestling before health and aging issues make it inevitable. Thank you for all you have done for me, and for the sport. Keep safe and healthy

It's wise to acknowledge one's physical abilities, however though age may debilitate our physical wrestling, there's various options available for one to partake in our wrestling community, as it would be a shame to lose experience and skill ... whatever you decide, do stay safe and pop in anytime you're in pebbly SinCity by the southern coast :-)

Couldn' t you just have more gentle grapples of some kind? Its a pity you are retiring, I never had the chance to wrestle with you :)

Good luck Mike, it was a pleasure to meet you and wrestle. I've also made the decision to stop wrestling due to health issues and like yourself, I've met some great guys and enjoyed good times wrestling!.

Tribute is due to you Mike. One of the finest gentleman I've ever met in any walk of my life, and especially in this world of wrestling. And damn good wrestler, trainer and teacher. This whole world, I am sad to say, is down a notch because of his retirement. Thank you, Mike, for all you have done for all of us, and for me.

Hi,
I think that's too early. We wanted to meet up too.
I admit, this number "70+" puts a lot of people off. I feel the same way at 74+. But somehow it does go on, albeit more sparingly. Please reconsider your decision ;-)
Greetings Claus

I'm not sure you are the type of guy to retire from wrestling, Mike.

I thought I could but it is not possible. Once you are a wrestler, then you will always be a wrestler!

Mike was one of my first opponents.
A really good guy and an inspiration to many. I gave him a glowing recommendation at the time and stand by it to this day. Wishing you all the best in everything you do.
Thanks.

The wrestling world in UK and beyond owes so much to Mike in his willingness to coach Nd encourage beginners! Despite the weight difference (!) We have had some great scraps! Thanks, Mike for your friendship!
