No problem - I was just surprised it's so different, particularly as I understand wrestling (as opposed to watching "wrestling") is much more mainstream over there - but perhaps that's why: Americans feel it's weird & kinky to do it in a non-standard way, while here to be wrestling at all is seen as weird enough that those of us who do it aren't inhibited about that.
I should have inserted "here in the USA" after "so few guys" Sorry about that.
The UK, especially England appears to be (on Meetfighters), by far, the number one place for wrestling – more open demographically, having public rings, mats, more events on the list than the rest of the world combined.
I should have realized the UK might use more oil for wrestling than the rest of the world combined as well. :)
I've posted open invites here on Meetfighters for UK guys visiting in my area to come take me on, herein my matroom or the back yard – oil or otherwise.. Read my profile, recommendations, blog for more info.
Given how few guys are into oil wrestling locally, it just might take centuries to go through the first bottle of the stuff. Interesting how so many men have oil in their profiles, but 'confess' privately they don't do it.
Thanks. That's not very long---I guess if even unopened, it doesn't last very long either. Reckon it is not suitable for oil wrestling very long, unless one can decide based on the smell. Being waaaaaay overoptimistic about my future in oil wrestling, I'll be having to trash 4 or 5 bottles of the stuff.
Hi bud am a chef. Olive oil last for years un opened . Once 0pened keep in a cool place as long you just use it for wrestling it last a couple of years
But hopefully u use it up by then .
I hope to get it used up; but give the almost non-existent local interest in oil and other more esoteric things in the scene, a single pint of oil might last a lifetime unless it goes rancid.
Have some throwing away to do. Given the staid nature of the local scene, keeping a single bottle on hand would be far more than enough. Is there an acceptable oil for oil wrestling which can keep several years?
What a shame so few guys are into it. It is so hot to do.
Oil wrestling is a neesh type of wrestling so not that many into it, so can be hit and miss here too. As for oil am not aware of any oil that could last several years.
Other than those doing it 1- or 2- times to give it a try, maybe there are fewer than a thousand guys in all of North America who do or want to do it with any regularity – unless there is some scene deep underground---will keep only one bottle around.
So much olive oil here; and unable to find any locals to the Washington DC area for oil wrestling. Does the oil go bad? rancid? Curious how long before have to discard it. I was over optimistic about the presence of local guys into oil wrestling. Not even a hint of anyone into locally here on this site other than the one guy of a year ago. Given the few posts on this subject, I guess it's rare in the entire USA.
If kept and saved properly it can last years
We comsume a lot of olive oil in our diet usualy just close the bottle keep away from the sun and if it is real olive oil it will last yeats
I wonder if it can be summed up as "If it smells right, it's OK for wrestling?" If not, for what little it costs, is simply chuck; and but new each year. Just want to make sure that if the rare occasion arises to oil wrestle, there is no surprise of the oil being bad and ruining the opportunity to do it.

22/6/2018 23:00I always understood it lasted decades sealed.
OK, it may lose some of the taste but will never become poisonous.
As long as it doesn't smell nasty to you or your opponent (& I think that takes centuries) it's fine to use it.
