Victory or defeat in the arena?

In this illustration a gladiator has already been defeated and is writhing on the sand, or dead. Meanwhile a retiarius and a secutor slug it out to see who will defeat who in a brutal fight to the death!

We seem to be witnessing the defeat of the gladiator on the ground. The aggressive fighting of his opponent make it unlikely he will be able to get to his feet again. It will take a miracle to prevent him from being defeated...

He's going to be killed even though he's within striking distance of his opponent's abs. He deserves death!

To the death! Two men compete in an unarmed contest before the Emperor. Defeat means death!

A retiarius is forced to appeal to Caesar after a secutor defeats him in the arena!

Will he be spared after his defeat - or will the punishment for defeat be death?

It is said that when Commodus ruled, he liked to see the look on a man's face when he was killed. Retiaius, like the defeated man doesn't wear a helmet. I suspect he should prepare to die.

You're probably right. Then again it depends on the mood of the emperor that particular day

Don't know if you guys can access these links but they are pics of two hot defeats in the arena in the 1984 mini-series "The Last Days of Pompeii".

In one pic, a gladiator is defeated when his opponent slams his bare foot onto the wrist of the man's sword arm. In the other pic, a defeated gladiator, having been put to death, has his feet roped together at the ankles to facilitate his removal from the arena.

Sad been here 3 years on meetfighters and still haven't gotten to get into some Gladiator fighting role playing yet. How about you? -----E

Dieing in the arena is not what you should be fighting for. Winning the man to man combat is the real erotic turn on. you and your opponent facing each other in the hot battle arena in front of the fans in the stands watching you. Your ultimate prize the body of the strong opponent you have faced to do with anything you wish. Kill him or use any or all parts of his body to release your full male load into. To prove your male power over this man that challenged you. Maybe you just keep his body as your slave to punish. I had a cyber fight a few weeks ago where i destroyed a super muscled opponent . he was much younger than I and I was very afraid I was going to be destroyed by his hot muscled body. My victory against him was the best I have had here. My goal here is to have an opponent crawling on all fours to me to lick my feet and beg me to show mercy to him. Dieing and losing not acceptable.

Yeah, on the same page.
I get that it's a power trip to have the control of life and death... I just think it's a bit of a waste of a fighter.
Besides, I'd rather collect an army of slaves than mass graves. :P

I would like to be in battle in the arens with to teams of Gladiators Fighting against each other. I would wear just loin cloth , my only weapon would be a spear, no Shield or anything to protect my body....
after a long and sweaty fight I would push my spear Right into the belly of my first oponent. while the first guy is in the sand and dieng in deadly pain, I would have to fight against the next one. After a hard fight, my spear would be broken, I would be lying in the sand, injured, my opponent with his sword on my chest and his foot between my legs. I would raise my Hand for giving up….what would be the judegment of the audience?

I think that in the 'historical' arena you would have been spared because gladiators were a precious resource and you had at least defeated one opponent.

In the 'fantasy' arena however defeat should mean death. Only victorious males are allowed to live.

Personally, I like a bit of both. Less fun if I know who will win or lose.
Myself, I prefer other stakes instead of death and murder. I usually play with the loser getting to choose ownership/slavery to the winner, marking/mutilation (eg castration) or death (that way it's still an option for those into such things)

So in the end this has been a fight to stay alive for jaust a few moments longer, but I`ll have to accept my death in the arens, as I wasn`t able to defeat my second oponent

I have only had one gladiator fight and that was with a women. I was dispatched to death at the feet of Melissa Freeman. She dropped me to the arena sands with a blitz of punches to my face, throat and body then stood over my beaten body my head on the sand between her two feet looking up to see her hot body gleaming under the sun coated in battle sweat and she locked my head with both her feet twisted breaking my neck and killing me. This was her most dramatic win against me. l also lost 4 other fights against her.

In the late and greatly missed Arenafighter board, those who were into defeat were known as takers. Those who were into victory were known a givers.

If you are playacting gladiators do you favour being victorious or defeated, and why?

And would you be prepared to alternate between victory and defeat if you were having a gladiatorial playacting session with an opponent?
